A battle between one tam which has never won an ICC event and one team that has won WTC, World Cup, T20 world cup and Champions trophy also. South Africa, people call them ‘the chokers of ICC events’ as they have never won a trophy and even against India in the T20 World Cup final, they needed 30 runs from 28 balls and they still lost the match. On the other hand the dominant Australia which won the World Cup 2023, The WTC 2023 and BGT 2025 also. They are the defending champions in these 3 events.
Fact – Australia has never lost a final since their captain is Pat Cummins and Temba Bavuma the captain of South Africa, has never lost a test match when he is the captain
After Day 1 ended, Australia have got all out on 212 runs in 56.4 overs in their first innings. Steve Smith and Beau Webster played crucial knocks of 66 and 72 runs. The crucial breakthrough for the South African team in their bowling was the wicket of the nightmare – Travis Head, who got out on 11 runs. This wicket only reduced at least 50-60 runs from Australia total of their first innings. Australia started well with their bowling as the first day ended for South Africa with a score of 43 for 4 wickets. The situation is not looking good for South Africa.
At this point of time Australia has a 71% chance of winning, South Africa has a 29% chance of winning and there is 1% of chance of a draw. If the result of the game doesn’t come after the fifth day also then the game can be extended to the 6th day. If South Africa doesn’t play slow and steady then they will not be able to make even 150 runs in their first innings. The decision of South Africa bowling first was good but it backfired them.
Both teams are capable of winning the WTC title but I want South Africa to win it, because they haven’t even won a single title.
