Normal animals and human beings gain their food by their surrounding but plants use special organelles known as plastids, they help in food synthesis.
There are 3 types of plastids:-
- Chloroplasts
- These plastids contained chlorophyll which helps plants in photosynthesis.
- The process in which plants make their own food by using materials like carbon dioxide etc from the environment.
- Chromoplasts
- The Plastids which give colour to the petals of the flowers in plants.
- Its pigments are colourful (yellow, red, purple etc)
- Such bright petals attract pollinators for pollination and fruit eating animals that help in seed dispersal
- Leucoplasts
- Some plastids are colourless and are called Leucoplasts.
- Leucoplasts store food material such as starch, oil, or proteins.
In the next explainer we will talk about cell division.
