Today is the historical and memorable day on which 80 years ago we got relieved from the cruelty of the British Rule over india after they ruled and looted us for more than 200 years, Due to the braveness and encouragement from our various Freedom fighters. The british looted nearly $45 TRILLION!!! India contributed 23-27% to world’s GDP at the time British arrived and this loot of $45 Trillion dollars that was looted by the British from India made india’s GDP fall from 23 – 27% to a little amount of 3%. This was one of the major affect of the British Loot in the 200 years of rule.
But after gaining so much money, this question arises that why did the British leave India???
There are simple three reasons for British leaving india:-
- The World War 2 which was mainly being fought between Great Britain and Germany caused an economic crisis in the United Kingdom and due to this they couldn’t afford high salaries of indian soldiers, officials and administration in India
- Indian led movements like Quit india Movement made the British realise that the public will unite against this colonial rule
- The indian national congress and the all india muslim league made it very clear that the foreign rule would face wrath of the common people
These were the main reasons that The British had no choice but to leave india and this is how india gained independence from the british.
Now after independence a country needs a flag so when was india’s flag made???
The Indian Flag containing saffron, white and green (Tricolour flag) was adopted in the year -> 1931
This Tricolour flag was also known as The Swaraj Flag
And on July 22nd 1947, The symmetrical Spinning wheel, Ashoka Chakra was added to the Flag.
Now we talked about Flags and why British left India but every country has its own national anthem but there was a special case with India.
The Indian National Anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ was written by Rabindranath Tagore in 1911, BUT till 15th August 1947, india did not have an official National Anthem, instead ‘Jana Gana Mana’ was officially announced as the National Anthem of India in January 1950.
**India till now in 2026 had 14 individuals that have served as the prime ministers of India staring from Jawaharlal Nehru (first prime minister of india) to Narendra Modi (current Prime Minister of India)
As the constitution was being finalised, the government looked for a symbol that could represent India’s Heritage, democratic powers and sovereign values. It was being designed in 1949. The man who designed the national emblem of india was Dinanand Bhargav, a 21 year old student. The national emblem was officially adopted on 26th January 1950.
After a happy occasion of Independence, Nobody thought that India will divide and one of its part will become Pakistan. This one PARTITION came with huge riots and killing of people on India due to Religious issues.
Actually the All indian muslim league leader Mohammed Ali Jinnah wanted a separate nation for all the muslims and name it pakistan.
Lord mountbatten called sir Cyril Radcliffe to draw the india-pakistan border and was given just five week of time to do this intense job and the most questionable thing was that sir Cyril Radcliffe hadn’t visited india before this.
He drew the border of india pakistan and that line between the two nations is known as the Radcliffe line.
People were celebrating independence but didn’t know in which country they are supposed live.
August 14, 1947 – Pakistan became an independent nation
August 15, 1947 – India became an independent nation
August 17, 1947 – The Radcliffe line came into rule
Because of all the freedom fighters and all the people who lost their lives so that the future generations could live without cruelty from British, India got Independence after nearly 200 years, so many revolts, fights, treaties and it payed off after so long. Thanks to all the freedom fighters and all the people who lost their lives and made the colonial rule fall to its knees…
