Explainer – 2 – Diffusion and Osmosis

Last Video we talked about The two cell security forces Plasma Membrane and Cell Wall

Now, let’s know about something that happens to our body cells. You never feel or even think about these concepts. These two terms are Diffusion and Osmosis.

DIFFUSION

Lets start with the definition of diffusion in our Science Book.

Diffusion is a process in which a solute moves from a region of High Concentration to Low Concentration.

Another term appears in this definition SOLUTE.

Now solute is any Solid, Liquid or Gas.

Same thing happens When we spray a perfume it first stays at one place but then it spreads everywhere to fill up lower concentrated area.

OSMOSIS

Lets first Study the Simple Definition given in our Science Book.

Osmosis is a kind of diffusion in which a solvent (mainly water) moves from a region of High Concentrated solution to Low Concentrated solution through a semi permeable membrane.

Now, another term rises here SOLVENT

Solvent is any liquid, generally in Osmosis It’s Water.

In RO, The water with Impurities and Salts is put at the one side of the filter which is used as a semi permeable membrane and Pressure is applied on the one side and it goes from the region of highly concentrated dirty side to the lower concentrated clean side.
