Explainer – 4 – Nucleus, The Brain Of The Cell

Lets Talk about the Brain of The Cell… Just like our brain takes all our decisions, thinks about good and bad, right and wrong, similarly even the cells in our body have their own environment and they also need to take decisions for their good and bad. This is what nucleus is meant to do.

NUCLEUS

Nucleus is called the Brain Of The Cell because it plays a central role in cellular reproduction (the process by which a single cell divides to form two new cells). So,Nucleus is just like our Human Brain as both carry all the information to conduct all the Functions in the cell or in the Human Body.

STRUCTURE OF THE NUCLEUS

It contains a Double Layered Membrane called The Nuclear Membrane. This membrane has a speciality – It contains some pores which allows materials In and out of the Nucleus.

These Materials are the ones which get in and out of the cell through the Plasma Membrane by Diffusion and Osmosis, after this they come to the nucleus and through the pores in the Nuclear Membrane they get in and out of the cell.

SOME OTHER TYPES OF CELLS CONTAINING DIFFERENT NUCLEUS

Some Organisms like Bacteria have Undefined Nuclear Region, this region is called Nucleoid.

Organisms having a Nucleoid are called Prokaryotic Cells.

Prokaryotic Cells also lack some organelles, and The function of these organelles are performed by the poorly organised Parts of the Cytoplasm.

Organisms which do not have a Nucleoid are called Eukaryotic Cells.

Eukaryotic cells have all the organelles.
